    GOAN FISH CURRY 

    Goan Fish Curry is the most popular curry in Goa. It uses a traditional Goan curry paste which makes it so delectable. A hearty use of coconut, chillies and kokum brings in the much-loved coastal flavour. 

    Preparation time: 30 minutes (Serves 2)

    For Fish Curry

    Ingredients:

           300 gms pomfret/sea fish

           6-7 Kashmiri red chillies dry

           1 small stick of cinnamon

           1 inch piece of fresh ginger

           Pinch of turmeric

           2 tsp coriander seeds

           1 cup fresh coconut

           1 tsp mustard seeds

           1 tsp cumin seeds

           4-5 kokum petals

           3 cloves of garlic

    Salt as required 

    Preparation:

           Dry roast the coriander, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, cinnamon, red chillies and coconut

           Wet grind it with turmeric, ginger and garlic and reserve this paste

           Heat oil in a pan/kadhai

           Temper with onions and green chillies

           Add the coconut paste, water and kokum

           Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes

           Add fish, coconut milk, tomatoes and curry leaves (optional)

           Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes on a slow flame

           Serve hot with rice 

    For Tempering

    Ingredients:

           1 tbsp vegetable oil

           2 green chillies

           1 onion chopped

           1 tomato diced in quarters

           3 tsp tamarind pulp

           1 cup coconut milk

           10 curry leaves
