    DULCE LECHE FILLED CHURROS 


    Churros is a fried dough pastry that’s hugely popular in Spain and Portugal. In this recipe, we combine it with another Latin American classic, ‘dulce de leche’. 

    Preparation time: 40 minutes (Serves 2) 

    Ingredients:

           1 can condensed milk (200ml)

           1 cup castor sugar

           2 tsp cinnamon (ground)

           1 cup water

           2 ½ tbsp white sugar

           2 tbsp vegetable oil

           1 cup all-purpose flour

           2 quarts oil for frying

           ½ cup white sugar (or to taste)

           1 tsp ground cinnamon

           ½ tsp salt 

    Preparation:

           Boil the condensed milk in water for three hours and let it chill

           In a small saucepan, over medium heat, combine water, 2 ½ tbsp sugar, salt and 2 tbsp vegetable oil

           Bring to a boil and remove from heat

           Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball

           Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375ºF (190ºC)

           Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using a pastry bag

           Fry until golden

           Drain on paper towels

           With a small nozzle and a piping bag, stuff the dulce de leche in the churros from one side

           Combine ½ cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture
